There are many beaches around the island where I live. There are often one or two people walking along an otherwise empty beach with rocks and trees to keep them company, along with the splashing of wavelets. My smaller paintings examine the interaction of colour and shapes, they specifically looks at how I make and decide upon marks within my works and reference how colour and light can be seen when looking at it closely in the environment around us. Its capacity to surprise and create joy.
